![]() Jeremy VaughanManaging DirectorJeremy Vaughan joined Haymarket, Britain’s largest privately held publishing group, as a classified sales executive on Classic & Sports Car in 1986. He moved to the motoring trade division two years later and became group production manager in 1989. He became publisher of Classic & Sports Car in 1993 and a year later publishing director of Haymarket Specialist Publications, responsible for Classic & Sports Car, Autosport and associated titles and overseas circulation and license development. Vaughan launched F1 Racing in early 1996 before moving over to publish Autocar and What Car? He returned the next year to Haymarket Specialist Publications then moved to Hong Kong in 1998 as general manager of SCMP Haymarket Publishing, which published IT, motoring, sports and women’s titles. He was appointed chief executive officer of Haymarket Worldwide Asia and director of Haymarket Worldwide in 1999. That year, he launched Autocar India and in 2002 started Autocar and Stuff China, founding regional bases, licenses, joint ventures and strategic acquisitions in Asia. In 2003, Vaughan was appointed managing director of Haymarket Media and Events Australia, which publishes PC Authority, FourFourTwo, Atomic, F1 Racing, CRN, iTnews, Secure Computing, Limelight, ProPrint plus events, interactive and custom publishing. He is vice chairman of Publishers Australia, Australia’s peak publishing trade body for producers of print and digital content and sits on the General Committee of the Audit Bureau of Circulation. |
![]() Malcolm FranklinFinance DirectorMalcolm has been a member of Haymarket’s finance team for over forty years. During the early years he was responsible for Budgeting for the whole Group and spent much of his time assisting the Group Board and commercial management throughout the various trading subsidiaries in keeping abreast of trading results and in forward planning. He then spent a period being responsible for overseeing the Group’s investments in Independent Local Radio where he was directly involved in the merger of a number of Radio Stations in the South of England, reversing them into a Publicly listed Group which was eventually sold to Capital Radio. He then concentrated on assisting in the evaluation of launches and acquisitions and carrying out detailed due diligence on a number of projects throughout the UK, parts of Europe, Hong Kong, and the USA finishing with the acquisition of a small independent publishing company in Australia in 2004 which has now evolved into Haymarket Media where he has stayed on as Finance Director. |
![]() Andy JacksonPublishing DirectorAndy began his career in media at VNU in early 1991 and after stints at Ziff Davis and Expert Media in between returned to VNU in to be part of their Corporate Sales Team. Andy spent a further 6 years at VNU progressing to be Head of International Agencies and then European Business Development Director before leaving to emigrate to Australia. On joining AJB Publishing, Andy created the role of Head of Strategic Accounts offering one commercial point of contact for key IT advertisers for AJB’s range of technology publications and web sites. In 2005, after the Haymarket Media acquisition of AJB, Andy identified the opportunity and launched FourFourTwo in Australia which was supplemented by the launch of an accompanying web site in 2007. Since launch FourFourTwo has won three Bell Awards for Best Consumer Launch (2006) , Best Cover (2008) and Best Print and Digital Media Integration (2009). In 2008, Andy also took over publishing responsibility for the CRN portfolio of products. Outside of work Andy is a qualified football coach and works with elite youth players in his local area. |
![]() Darren McNallyCommercial DirectorDarren started his career with Haymarket UK in 1996 as a Classified Sales Executive on the Promotions and Incentives magazine. After two years of service he moved to Dennis Publishing where he spent seven years working across print, and online at Dennis Interactive, across a number of different product sectors including IT, gaming, automotive and men’s lifestyle. He then moved to Australia in January 2004, to take up a position with AJB Publishing, which soon after was acquired by Haymarket, bringing him back to to the company where he initially started his career. Over the last six years he has worked across the entire portfolio of products in a number of different roles, and is now responsible for the Commercial Department. |

![]() Tim WaldronManaging DirectorTim joined Haymarket in 1989 as a classified sales executive on Direction magazine, moving to Campaign as recruitment sales manager the following year. In 1993, he joined Conference & Incentive Travel, leaving the title in 2000 to move to Singapore to be the launch publisher of CEI Asia. In 2001, he took up the role of managing director of Haymarket’s Asian business titles led by Media based in Hong Kong, with responsibility for all Haymarket’s Asian print products, websites, conference and awards. His tenure at the helm has seen the acquisition of FinanceAsia and AsianInvestor, the re-launched of Spikes Asia in conjunction with Cannes Lions, the launch of successful online brand extensions and the growth of the conferences and events division. ![]() David NewtonFinance DirectorDavid came to Asia in 1991 with Reuters on a 3-month financial systems project and is still here. After 13 years at Reuters encompassing roles in finance, financial systems, marketing, and general management, David set up his own strategy consulting business in Hong Kong before joining the Financial Times as Finance Director, Asia Pacific, in 2003. In 2006 David moved to Singapore to join LexisNexis as CFO, Asia Pacific, and in 2008, also took on the role of Managing Director, Singapore & Malaysia. At the beginning of 2010 David returned to Hong Kong to join Haymarket as Finance Director, Asia. David’s specialities include transfer pricing, business analysis, m&a, market entry strategy, pricing, compliance, corporate responsibility, numbers & spin. ![]() Dan CottonStrategy DirectorDan joined Haymarket Media in Hong Kong in 2009 as Digital Director and quickly moved into the role of Strategy Director. After 2 years with The Boston Consulting Group, he went into the digital world developing expertise in launching and running web businesses for start-ups and major global players in publishing, e-commerce and gaming. In 2009, he left his role as Head of Strategy for eBay UK and moved to Hong Kong, where he joined Haymarket to run and develop the interactive portfolio. In 2010, he took up the role of Strategy Director, taking responsibility for CRM and Circulation and working directly with the Managing Director and Finance Director to plan Haymarket’s development in the region. He is a fairly extreme sportsman, recently moved on from ultra-distance running events such as the 250km Marathon des Sables to become a Thai Boxing instructor and competitive fighter. ![]() Hormazd SorabjeeFounder and managing director of Haymarket SAC Publishing, editor of Autocar IndiaHormazd has been a key member of Haymarket India since its formation in 1999, and is responsible for the successful launches of Autocar India, Autocar Professional and What Hi-Fi? Sound & Vision India. He was associate editor of Indian Auto from 1987 to 1991, and associate editor then editor of Auto India until 1999, after which he joined Haymarket. He is a member of the Guild of Motoring Writers, CNBC’s auto expert, and many of his articles have been printed by leading publications in India and around the world. ![]() Suresh RamakrishnanPublishing DirectorSuresh joined the Haymarket family in January 2011 after spending close to 13 years in the magazine publishing space. He started his media career from Jasubhai Digital Media (a home grown IT media company) in 1998 as part of the start-up team and over the course of nine and half years in the company he was associated with the launch of several magazines, events, web based properties and a content services division. His last publishing stint was with Reed Infomedia India (JV between Reed Elsevier Plc and Infomedia 18 Limited) as a Country Head where he was involved in setting up the operations of the company in India through the launch of some of their popular B2B and B2C titles across different media platforms (primarily print, web and events) Suresh’s completed his Engineering from IIT – Kharagpur and MBA from IIM – Ahmedabad. He is a complete family man; he prefers to spend his spare time strumming his guitar, sampling music across his nine audio systems, delving deep into management theories and sweating it out in the gym. ![]() Kevin CostelloDirectorKevin Costello is chief executive of Haymarket Media Group for the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia, and chairman of Haymarket Network. After graduating in 1987, Kevin joined Reed Business Publishing as a sales executive. He moved to Bartlett Advertising in 1990, where he spent four years in a range of roles including media buying, planning and new business development. He joined Haymarket in January 1994 as business development manager in its business-to-business division. After a period running the sales operation across a portfolio of weekly trade titles, he moved into Haymarket’s consumer division. He then became managing director and chairman of Haymarket Consumer Media, with a portfolio of market-leading consumer brands in sectors as diverse as sport, classical music and technology. Kevin has overseen the growth of Haymarket Network, which is now one of the top five customer publishing agencies in the UK. In January 2010, Kevin was promoted to chief executive of Haymarket Media Group, responsible for the UK as well the Australian, German, Indian and Hong Kong subsidiaries. Additionally, he is chairman of Frontline, the UK’s market-leading sales and marketing magazine distribution company and a non-executive director of Wanderlust Ltd. Kevin is married to Alison, has two children and is a self-proclaimed sports junkie. When not on the sidelines supporting his children he can be found at Old Trafford supporting his beloved Manchester United. |
![]() Jeremy DuckworthDirectorJeremy Duckworth joined Haymarket in 2005 as group finance director and successor to David Fraser, who retired after 37 years with the company. After qualifying as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse, Jeremy gained considerable experience of the media world in investment banking roles over 13 years with both BZW and UBS. He joined Haymarket from the Williams F1 Racing Team, where he was responsible for improving the financial performance of the company as it faced the challenges of the F1 industry. Jeremy is married and has two children. His interests include golf and sailing. |
![]() Brian FreemanDirectorBrian Freeman, FCMA, joined Haymarket as a management accountant in 1989, having worked at KPMG after graduating from Exeter University. He became head of management accounts for Haymarket Consumer Media, joining the boards of subsidiary groups in 1994 and became a director of Haymarket Consumer Media in 1995. He joined the board of Haymarket Media Group in 2000. He has played a key role in setting up Haymarket’s overseas operations, and now sits as a director on the boards of most of the company’s overseas subsidiaries. |
![]() Edward MarrHead of Licensing Development (Asia)Edward started his career at Haymarket in 1997 working first in the advertising then marketing and circulation departments of F1Racing magazine in London just as the title launched its first licensed editions across Europe. In 2001 Edward moved to Hong Kong to help expand the company’s footprint in Asia. Working first on Haymarket’s own titles in the region, Media and CEI Asia magazines as well as customer publishing initiatives in the sports and motoring sectors he then helped launch over 40 licensed magazines Asia including China and has grown Haymarket’s Asia licensing and syndication business to be one of the largest of any international media owner spearheaded by the Autocar and Stuff brands. In May 2010 appeared in the BBC TV documentary, Theo’s Adventure Capitalists which followed British businesses working in Vietnam.
