FourFourTwo Australia cleaned up at the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards in Sydney on Friday, winning three major awards at the prestigious publishing event.
The team was rewarded for a fantastic year with wins in the Integrated Media Brand of the Year and Website of the Year categories and, best of all, the day’s top prize – the inaugural Publishers Australia Excellence Award.
The Excellence Award was chosen from the winners of the four main categories: Website of the Year, Consumer Magazine of the Year, b2b Magazine of the Year and Customer Magazine of the Year
The judging panel was particularly impressed with FourFourTwo’s scope as a brand – the FourFourTwo stable incorporates the magazine and website (with video, active forums and a team of bloggers), a mobile site, Twitter and weekly podcasts and newsletters.
The judges’ decision was unanimous, with one panellist commenting: “FourFourTwo is a comprehensive brand that delivers on all levels.”
FourFourTwo also scooped a couple of runner-up awards – one in the Cover of the Year category for the “Green & Golden” World Cup cover, and another in the Single Article of the Year group for editor Trevor Treharne’s in-depth look at Australia’s bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Publishing Director, Andy Jackson said: “This is wonderful recognition of a phenomenal team effort to capitalise on the opportunity the 2010 World Cup presented us. Over the last three years, I believe FourFourTwo has grown into the perfect example of where a modern magazine brand needs to be to stay relevant editorially and commercially, with a blend of print, online, audio-visual, social media and user-generated elements all working in synergy.”
Elsewhere, Haymarket won further acclaim with Atomic taking Highly Commended in the Cover of the Year category. Nate Cochrane (CRN) was also Highly Commended in the Single Article of the Year group, while Brett Winterford (iTnews) was runner-up for Analytical Journalist of the Year.
