Autosport and SC in public vote for best magazine cover

Haymarket’s Autosport and SC Magazine are each nominated in the the Maggies, the awards in which the best magazine covers of the year are decided by a public vote.

The cover that earned Autosport its nomination in the Sport category features a despondent Lewis Hamilton, the Formula One World Champion of 2008.

Amar Hussein, Autosport’s art editor, says: “Autosport’s expert writers and unrivalled behind-the-scenes access gives the readers exclusive stories and unrivalled insight into the world of motorsport. In the May 21 issue we reported on how the reigning world champion was contemplating his lack of form in 2009; our photographer captured this shot of Lewis Hamilton deep in thought after another weekend of disappointment.”

SC is up against four other titles, including Marketing Week, in the Trade category. The shortlisted cover features an interview with CEO of Symantec, Enrique Salem.

“I am thrilled that SC has been shortlisted,” said Paul Fisher, editor of SC. “Like some of the other shortlisted titles, it shows that even small-scale magazines, on small budgets, can create an impact with imagination and creativity.”

Voting for the best covers of 2009 is open until June 20 at www.themaggies.co.uk.
